Full Job Description
Estimator
A leading construction company in Chicago, IL is searching for an experienced Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for biding process estimating various projects, ensuring accurate pricing and efficient project management.
We are looking for an experienced (3 years) Estimator, with experience in estimating from blueprints but also estimating from visiting job sites to come up with job costs to put together proposals
Requirements:
3 years of estimation experience
No degree requirement
Experience with subcontractors and project management is preferred
Building process including earth work, concrete work, sewer and water
Estimating and bidding process

Responsibilities and Experience
Estimate demolition projects including total building and interior demolition
Perform takeoffs from plans and gather pricing from subcontractors
General project management and coordination
Ensure familiarity with environmental regulations
Work on an average of 3-5 estimations per week
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials required
- Experience in doing material and labor take projects from construction documents for: Foundations, Concrete, Carpenter Framing,
- Review proposal contract documents
- Prepare and organize documents required for complete and responsive bid proposal.
- Calculate takeoffs from plans to determine quantity accuracy.
- Visit project for comprehensive understanding of site logistics, restrictions, and conditions.
- Develop strategy for execution of work in the most cost-effective manner.
- Prepare detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates, including tasks, subtasks, production rates and unit costs.
- Solicit quotes from material suppliers and potential subcontractors.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the entire scope of work, including plans, specifications, logistics, materials, equipment, submittal and other requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors and manage on-site production.
- Review and adhere to project schedule
- Maintain project photos of all phases and features of work.
